I just reread the blog I published this time last year. Newsflash: I still have not mastered the art of “Preparing Room.”
Show yourself grace Hay, show yourself grace.
So, the way I see it, I have two choices:
1. Continue baking batches of cookies (a useful and delicious distraction), running around on last minute Christmas errands, fussing with the decorations on our tree, etc.
Or
2. I could stare straight into my crowded mind and heart, accept where I find myself, but push towards something better. Something much more fulfilling and meaningful.
I’ll take the latter Jesus.
After this decision was made, I found myself in The Book of Common Prayer:
Purify our conscience, Almighty God, by your daily visitation, that your Son Jesus Christ, at His coming, may find in us a mansion prepared for Himself, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Jesus, I want you to have room in the mansion of my heart, please make yourself at home, use my favorite blanket, prop your feet up on the couch, eat and drink whatever you would like, please don’t leave. I love you.
